7 Practical Ways to Improve a More Positive Perception of Yourself

Consider these seven practical ways to improve a more positive perception of yourself:

  1. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a good friend.

  2. Set and achieve small goals: Accomplishing something, no matter how small, can boost your self-confidence and sense of self-worth.  Remember this quote by Chrystal Evans Hurst “something is better than nothing”.

  3. Surround yourself with positive people: Spend time with individuals who are supportive and uplifting.  “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” Proverbs 27:17

  4. Engage in self-reflection: Take time to reflect on your thoughts and feelings and identify any negative patterns or beliefs that may be impacting your perception of yourself.

  5. Practice gratitude: Focus on the things you have to be thankful for in your life and express gratitude for them. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

  6. Take care of your physical health: Eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly can all have a positive impact on your mood and self-perception.
