Do you have body image limiting beliefs OR liberating beliefs?

Body image limiting beliefs are negative thoughts or attitudes that limit our ability to feel confident and positive about our body.

Limiting beliefs sound like this:

  • "I am not attractive enough to be a successful leader in my career."

  • "I need to be fat/thin/short/tall to be taken seriously in the corporate world."

  • "I'll only be happy when I lose weight/gain muscle/change my appearance in some way."

Unfortunately, these beliefs can lead to feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and a lack of self-esteem. Sometimes when gone unchecked, they can also lead to eating disorders, extreme exercise regimes, and other harmful behaviors.

As a body image consultant, my role is to empower you to turn those limiting beliefs to what I like to call "liberating beliefs."

Body image liberating beliefs are positive thoughts or attitudes that empower us to feel confident and positive about our bodies.

Liberating beliefs sound like this:

  • "I am worthy of love and respect no matter what my body looks like."

  • "My body size does not determine my worth or ability to lead."

  • “Confidence and competence in my abilities are more important than my physical appearance."

Unlike limiting beliefs, liberating beliefs lead to increased self-confidence, self-esteem, and a strong sense of self-acceptance. They also lead to healthy behaviors such as nourishing one's body and treating it with the kindness and respect it deserves.
